Glespo was born to a minor noble family in the kingdom of Skyreach. His mother was very ambitious and controlling, so his childhood and adolescence was spent being pushed, cajoled, harangued, nagged, and harried into becoming the perfect little elf princeling. He endured endless training in etiquitte and the changing fashions of the elven court, but was a poor student and found his only respite in nature and hunting.
One day during a hunt he ranged a bit further than normal and encountered an Nalaureth, an elf girl who he became infatuated with. Glespo didn’t care that she was a grubber, he found her wild and seemingly carefree ways intoxicating. In secret, and over the next few months, the relationship grew to the point where Glespo considered proposing marriage and began to plan how he could bring Nalaureth back to the trees with him to start their new life.
Being young, he thought that the purity and depth of his love would convince his parents to set aside their plans of arranging a good marriage to improve the standing of his house. When he told his parents however, his naivete was brutally ripped away. His mother forbade him from seeing Nalaureth again, and had Glespo escorted to a cousins house on the other side of the country for more training in exile.
Glespo could not bear this, and vowed to run away from the trees and make a life on the ground with Nalaureth. At his first opportunity, he made his way back home, sneaking in to claim an inheritance (steal some money) that he could use to start his new life. He then went to reunite with his beloved Nalaureth, only to find that his lessons in naivete weren’t over. Nalaureth hated being a grubber, and although she loved Glespo, she loved the idea of moving into the trees more. There would be no life with Nalaureth.
Despondent, with nothing left for him in Skyreach, he made his way to the coast and hopped a boat to the wild lands. It was there that he eventually encountered some druids and found his calling. He finds solace in his animal form, living in the moment in the ways that he thinks only an animal can. After completing his initial training with the wild druids, he was content to spend the rest of his life there, but his mentors told him that he must go and spend some time out in the world before his can truly choose to withdraw from it. So he jumped on a boat to to Gao.
